Through a google search, I found this forum.

Im interested in finding out the value of a $20 bill that I pulled out of circulation. It is a 2009 $20 bill with the Serial code JL11111111C.

It has normal wear on it. Has a folded crease in the middle and wrinkles. Stain in the upper right hand side. No tears.

Is it something worth holding on to? Worth getting graded?

I understand that things are valued at whatever someone is willing to pay for it, but in your experiences, what have you heard about this type of bill selling for?

If a picture helps, I can provide one.

I am more of a coin guy, but even I know to definatly keep it! It is a great find and I hope that the people more experienced with banknotes can chime in.

Wow!! Awesome find!! Closest I've ever seen in circulation is 5 solid 3s! There's bound to be a nice price to be found on that!

This is the ony one that I have ever noticed. About 6 years ago when "Wheres George" was exploding, I entered a lot of dollar bills and NEVER came across any solid serial numbered bills. I'm tempted to keep it cause its something cool that my kids havent seen either, but also tempted to sell it if it has any real value.

In this condition I would not waste the money getting it certified, besides, people that know currency can tell the genuine notes from the fakes just by feeling the paper...
I know the solid serial numbers bring a large premium in GEM CU, The only time I have seen solid serial number notes in this condition was the older brown Seal National Currency Notes, and have no idea of the value of your note...

Value would be anybody's guess. Usually, as earlier said, they are sold in UNC. condition. Solids are generally pulled from the stacks, certified and sold in top condition. Having said that, your's could still fetch a decent premium being firstly a solid, secondly solid 1s and thirdly, someone could own it without having to cough up the highest price.

Nice find!

That's a nice find.....may be $250 and UP... THE up number could go higher IF someone really really wanted it for a collection.....the condition of the note is going against you....

It's a definite keeper for the long haul / for a decent trade down that you want for your collection etc..

If your thinking of selling it you may want to reconsider. There is more than just a good chance you will never again hold a solid serial in your hands ever again. They are not only rare, but most are not even circulated since bank tellers and employees pull them out of circulation before they ever ARE circulated.

Just sayin...

Sometimes I wish I did work for a bank and was able to look over all those bills before sending them out. Finding that whole strap could make you quite a bit!
