Goals? To find a few more Greeks that aren't excessively expensive. Steve--you're going to Victoria BC, right? Your timing is impeccable, because Summer is finally here.

Yeeeehaaa ... yup, just a two more weeks (July 22nd) and my lovely wife and I will be crusin' across on the BC Ferry (which is my absolute "favourite" thing in the world!!) => man, I have such great memories of riding the BC ferry across during my early juniour soccer and lacrosse years, so now 30 years later, I still get goosebumps when I'm tanning myself on the deck and looking at the beautiful, awesome sights! => I dare anybody to find a prettier 1.5 hour boat-cruise than "the active pass" between Vancouver and Victoria!

I definitely agree that this is a different flavor here. Forvm is great and I check the fakes section there almost daily to see what I can learn, but conversations there tend to be between connoisseurs and I am more of a simple enthusiast. Thanks again for the welcome all, I look forward to gabbing about coins. Nice to make your aquaintance Doug, I have been to your site more than once.

Hey, howdy DVC ... Yah, I must admit that "both" Ferry rides are awesome, but Victoria (Schwartz Bay terminal) to Vancouver (Tsawwassen terminal) is the total winner ... that's where you go through "active pass" ... => weaving around tight bends, sounding the horn to warn any smaller boats that might be just around the corner ... tide changes, creating mini whirlpools ... super cool and amazingly pretty boat ride!! We might try the Clipper to Seattle if we have a spare day ... I haven't been to Seattle since I saw "The Who" play in the King Dome ... man, that's 30 years ago (I think it's time that I went back!!?) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVJwbclo-II... we drove across the border in my buddy's Ford van (we'd bolted lay-z-boys to the fan floor ... my God, how we got across the border is still a mystery to all of us!!?)

My active collecting is really quite focused compared to what I've read. I must be doing something wrong! I have 3 areas I am actively looking: 1. Wheat Pennies: 1926S and 1924D - that would get me down to only 5 holes in the Wheats. 2. Jefferson nickels: 3 moderns that I must noodle for myself to complete that album! 3. Type Set Album: There are a few holes I'd like to fill there - I have them listed on my want list - but I have a LONG way to go with that album!

My personal goals are dependent on 3 criteria: concern, affordable concerning my budget and availability. As my focus is graded by 1. on ancient coins 2. on old (medieval) or exotic (Arabic world, Asia) coins 3. on modern world coins and exonumia the new purchases are easy to classify. (the only problem to be solved: my spouse shouldn´t see the spendings)

It gets really difficult when I get registered/receipt packages delivered to the door and the spousal unit wants to know what's being delivered and for what price. Oh and welcome Arminius1

Hey Arminius1 ... oh, and I also agree ... "Somehow" there must be a way of explaining to my wife that I'm not buying coins, I'm merely investing in our future .... ummm, kinda like putting all of our money into hundreds of Gordie Howe rookie cards and then expecting to cash-out all at once (yup, that is defintiely the down-side) ... Oh wait => "my wife" would be selling my coins ... "not me" and again => welcome Dude ... I hope you have fun!

Ancients are my first love; I acquired an Antoninus Pius denarius more than 30 years ago. Have about 250 ancients: Greek Indo Greek Roman Republic Roman Imperial Roman Colonial Byzantine Celtic Islamic Indian and Chinese, which would be 1,000 + years old, in a World collection that also includes hammered and milled coins in a collection of about 4,500 pieces, up to about 1950.
I was given a collection of 200 or so pieces of Australian NCLT, which includes some gold.

My current goals are a pair of MS Morgans, a CC Morgan and a few Roman ancients.

But--a friend of mine bought some coins from me, and I dropped in something for his wife too (a loose diamond, sapphire, and emerald)--and he said it had a good effect.
