N-9 refers to a specific die variety. Newcomb numbers are used to attribute large cents that were minted between 1816 and 1839.

Dino:

grades go from 0-70
Question: What is the Sheldon Scale of Coin Grading?

Answer: The Sheldon Scale is a 70-point scale for grading coins, developed by Dr. William Sheldon in 1949. A slightly modified form of the Sheldon Scale has become the de facto standard for grading U.S. coins today, and is used by the major third party grading services when assigning a grade to a coin.

I prefer that my coronets and braided hair be fine or better. At lower grades, they sometimes get a weird appearance, especially braided hair. I actually think that they look better with all the details gone than at the mid low grades.
