Apologies if I've asked this one before but you know the old memory...

I have two 2 Rubles coins, Moscow mint, 2009.
One has the slighty brassy colouring of previous years (copper-nickel-zinc) and is non-magnetic. The other is magnetic which suggests steel. Mine are 5.10gm and 5.00gm respectively.
Should this be considered a new variety due to compostion and weight difference?
I've also noticed the difference between a 1 Ruble 2008 and a 2010.

Russia-1-And-2-Ruble-Change-In-Metal? and the 1 Ruble 2010.

It should be considered a variety because it is very rare that the same denomination is minted in two different metals.

Apparently an intentional change. :) See here: http://www.cbr.ru/eng/bank-notes_co...etall_97.htm (at the bottom):

"Since the second quarter of 2009 new varieties of the coins with denominations of 1, 2 and 5 Rubles of 1997 issue have been put into the circulation. The coins of this varieties are made of nickel plated steel."

Thanks oh_my and Christian. Found it on another site as #833a and #834a. Whether Krause will adopt it remains to be seen.
