Glad you liked the note, I like the prefix JJJ.

The bird is definitely not a Kiwi, but I don't know what it is.

Sorry, scoutjim, but early NZ notes aren't dated like that. Your only clue to the date is the portrait and signature. I don't have my banknote reference with me right now, but I know that portrait was used in the mid-1980's. The 1970's portrait of the Queen was younger, and looking off to one side.

The name of the bird is printed beneath it on the note: "Tui", I believe - the same bird that's on the NZ sixpence.

OK, I've got my Pick with me now... the portrait was used 1981-1992. I'm no expert on NZ signatures, but that one looks like D.T. Brash (1989-1992).

In 1992, they got rid of their $1 and $2 notes and redesigned all the rest, pulling the Queen off all denominations except the $20 - much to the annoyance of the local monarchists, no doubt.

Jim. This is just payback for your generosity. I love that silver Moose coin you sent me, thank you again.

Things are a bit tight at the moment, I have not been able to do a lot of trading. If you would like to have a look at the collection so far, go to my gallery and use the search function. Type in Deer and select keywords, press search. Not too many there yet, but it will grow over the years. Thanks for your help Jim.
