I want to start using Excel to keep track of my coin collection but I don't really know where to start with what types of things to chart on it. I know many other people use excel to keep track of their collections what types of things do you all do with it?

My charts contain the following columns for each denomination:

Date of the coin
Mint Mark
Grade
Date purchased
Cost
Where stored ( album, folder 2x2 in a box)
Date sold / traded
Price received

If it helps here's a link to a coin inventory template with filters already applied for easy sorting.

If you still need ideas, send me your e-mail and I'll send you some samples. I keep track of just about everything in Excel -- coins, stamps, wooden nickels, casino chips -- even how many and what size of Air-Tites, cardboard holders, and plastic 2x2's I have left.

Happy to help if you're interested.

Jan

Here is a link to a great spreadsheet that I use.

I just change the details (ie Country etc) to suit what I want.

Hey Ken thanks for that example spreadsheet. I took my current spread sheet and integrated some functions into it to calculate cost\prices\worth of my collection. I actually googled arithmetic functions in Excel..
