I have a 1846 Seated Lib. Dime. One just sold on ebay for $340.00 in VG-8 and graded by PCGS. Mine is identical in condition to the one sold and maybe slightly better except for a very small delamination area about the size of a pin head. I would have never considered sending this coin for grading but it sure seems to have helped the one that sold. I have thought about selling this coin as I am not a big dime fan and putting the money into something else. What do you think, is it worth sending off? Oh, by the way, I have very little in the coin and the cost of grading would not hurt not matter how it graded. Jim

Jim,
If it were me I would send it in for grading. When a high dollar coin shows some wear its hard for a lot of us to grade on our own and will bid low to be on the safe side. But if its graded we are more likely to bid to the grade when buying.

By all means, then. You will very likely recoup the cost of slabbing in increased value attributed to a PCGS-slabbed coin, and at the worst you will generate more bidders from those who won't buy a coin like that raw.

I always send coins in for grading if the value is 100 dollars or more if I plan to sale the coin just because they seem to sale allot better because the buyer knows the professional agreed on the grade and its a problem free coin which is a big plus to buyers
