Doing some research I've found that this medal is depicting the Baptism Of Christ.

Obverse: Jesus Christ is in the water being baptized with God the father above him. After baptism and after out of the water Jesus looked up and the heavens opened with the dove (Holy Spirit) descending upon him. This depiction on the medal is so very similar to the original oil painting by Francesco Albani from the 1600's.

Reverse: Shows the triangle with three dots inside which I believe are meant to represent The Farther, The Son & The Holy Ghost. It also shows a baby (I think Baby Jesus) being sprinkled with Holy Water. I'm not sure who the other three figures are.

The origin and translation of the text on both sides I have not been able to decipher. Any and all help in language translation and meaning is appreciated....Thanks in advance to all....

The language of the legends is German, written in traditional Fraktur-style script, though some of the letters are a little deformed from the norm. The text on both sides combine to form a poetic couplet.

Top pic: Aus dem Vorbild unsrer Tauf (From the example of our Baptism). On the banner John the Baptist is carrying are the letters "EC ANGN DEI", a slightly blundered abbreviation for "ECCE AGNUS DEI", which is Latin for "Behold, the Lamb of God".

Bottom pic: Steigt Glaub Lieb und Hoffnung auf (arises Faith, Love and Hope). The scene in the bottom pic is intended to be symbolic of a modern church baptism/christening scene; the three women standing around the priest are the personified Three Virtues named on that side of the medal: Faith (with the cross, cup and sprinkler), Hope (with the anchor) and Love (in the background, with a small child).

Here's a similar medal, with text in Roman letters rather than Fraktur, and John's banner written out in full.
