My bank teller saves Ikes and Susies for me. Usually get a couple per month. Sure would like to run into a stash of Ikes at face value!

I wish I could say that I had a very large number of Eisenhower dollars in my possession. I do have a complete Dansco album, 32 coins plus four extras. As for the SBA, I have what I call a complete set. It is date and mint only, no varieties.

I have 200 Ike's in rolls in a bank box. My goal is to get a total of 500 to fill the bank box. My best deal, other than getting them for face value at a bank, is ebay. I can usually find a lot of 100 going for $130.00 with free shipping. I just have to wait for that price tag to show up. That's how I got my first 200.

I picked up a roll of dollars the other day for the $100,000 challenge and got a beautiful 1980 Susan B in it, so they are out there.

I get a couple of SBAs at the bank from time to time and also Ikes, though harder to come by. My tellers are fairly uniformed about them that they are US coinage and are glad to clear their change drawer. An honest question: is there really any potential value to holding Ikes: they seem to have little value over $1 and they have no precious metal. After filling albums, is there any reason to stockpile Ikes? Also, there has never been any modern melting programs at the mints have there? Wouldn't all base metal coinage ever minted still be officially out there in the wild, except for maybe some seriously damaged coins turned in? I'm very curious about this... any answers?

Quote: they seem to have little value over $1 and they have no precious metal. There are 40% silver Eisenhower dollars. I just passed on 300+ Ikes at the credit union. I've looked at a thousand in the last few years at the banks, just no luck finding that silver Eisenhower. Maybe one day....so I'll keep on looking.

i give my kids 10 each week in dollar coins as an allowance. last summer I was out visiting my Parents in the Napa Valley and stopped at a small local bank downtown to get the kids their allowance. The teller asked me if I wanted the large or small dollar coins. I told her I would take the Ikes and she told me that they had a bunch they have had forever and would I be interested in taking them off her hands? Long story short...I purchased a 500 count bag of Ikes at face...of course..this is a bank! The good news? One Peace dollar and two silver Ikes. So yeah, they are still out there. On the other hand I have a small business selling coins and am always offered collections, and they almost always have anywhere from a dozen to a couple of hundred Ikes in them. So as umpopular as they are people are hoarding them.
