As some of you know, I got sniped out of a gorgeous 1858 Seated Liberty half dollar, I guess that I did not want it bad enough. I would like the CCF's opinion on which Half Dollar that you prefer. They are both asking for the same money.

Thanks as always!

Definitly the XF45, for the same price and a 5-point difference it seems like a no brainer =P , the XF45 also has more eye-appeal in my honest opinion. Good Luck with the buy =)

Definetely the 45. Both nice, but for the same price I take the higher grade with better eye appeal.
Choose whichever you like best. As everyone here always says, buy the coin, not the slab.

The XF45 for sure. Better grade, better value and better eye appeal anyway to me at least. I like cleaned coins though, some others may prefer the older looking one

The XF-45 has a much nicer tone and my vote.

I think I would be more inclined to take the second one. I like the patina a bit more than the more mottled toning of the first one. I wished the second one had the strike of the first which would make it one very nice coin.

Congrats oih82w8, I saw in another thread that you chose the XF-45.

Perhaps this is a dumb question but why would someone go with PCGS XF-40 when the PCGS XF-45 was being offered for the same price? Is it just different preferences for toning and original surfaces? .... personally I don't like the look of the XF-40, it is just too dark for my tastes.

For the same money, I would go with the XF45 all day long. the details are much more prevalent and the coin rocks!

(I am a sucker for a nice Seated Liberty Half...)

The only real reason would be eye appeal, but considering the 45 is more valuable its hard to justify

with everyone else ... the second coin (XF45) has better appeal to my eye ... but might have suffered from an old cleaning a long ways back.

Appears you have already made up your mind?

Why no update in this thread?

It's on it's way...the XF-45 that is. When it arrives I will post my attempt at the images. Thanks all!
