I heard they had problems with these notes does anyone know if they have sorted the problems and are any of the notes in circulation yet?

I thought the colourized notes were quite an improvement on the previous notes... whats everyone think of them?

The Federal reserve indicated they would give at least a six month notice prior to the new $100.00 notes being released. They have yet to give that notice since encountering the creasing problems.

Thanks for the link...

Still interested what everyone thinks of the colourized notes, I really like the new $50 and the $10.

Every new design for each denomination they come out with, I put one away, and I have been waiting since the original 2005 release date of the new $100 bill, to get one. Then they delayed the release of the $100 for a few years, to explore new security features they could add to the denomination, then there were several years over time that they were going to release it (2006, early 2008, late 2008, 2009, 2010, and finally Febuary 10, 2011), which was later delayed even furher, due to printing problems. The new $100s are finally slated to come out later this year, but a release date has not yet been announced, however, I feel it will be released anywhere between September and November, as most new U.S. currency designs comes out in the spring or fall, and I am guessing that they will want them out for the holidays, when large amounts of currency are spent.

And one other thing. Unlike with the $5-$50, when these new colorized $100 bills come out, ALL old non-colorized $100 bills, no matter what shape they are in, whether fit for circulation or not, will be pulled from circulation, and shredded as they are received by the Fed for some reason, I guess they just want the new design $100sto really take over faster than the other new colorized denoominations did.

I love the new design. It is certainly a saga though.

I just love all the technological effort and security features that was put into the new $100. Can't wait to hold one in my hand and really inspect it closely.
Piece of art really.

Woodford,

I know, reallu. The onlu thing I didn't like about the new $100s is that, on the back, it seems that the designers didn't even try to come up with security features. All there is is that BIG vertical numeral 100 and a few speckles of little yellow 100s. There's not even a backgrpound color, so I wish they would have added a bit more color to the back, but the front looks awesome with all of its features, and I still like the huge vertical 100 on the back.

@GoldenChest - I LOVE the colorized 50s. It's gorgeous and definitely one of my favorite notes!

They always shred old bills at the end of their lifespan when they're withdrawn from circulation, and then dump them in landfills. Sadly the paper is not recyclable. :-(
