I stopped by a local shop today and looked through the gentleman's bargain box. There were mostly incomplete legend LRB's but these two were different so I got them. They are a bit rough but I was hoping to ID them for fun. I thought I'd be able to find them fairly easily but haven't been able to find anything yet.

Any ideas or clues?

I think #1 is a Roman Provinical of Antoninus Pius. #2 appears to be an early Byzantine decanummium don't know who it is though.

Well done guys. echizento... spot on. Looks like both are very close.

I did some more looking at coins like coin #2 and it seems Justinian I is the most likely. Large I = 10 nummi, ANNO to left, cross above, regnal year to right.

I'll check some more on both coins tomorrow.

Thanks a million

Another example from DVC's link. I think this is it.
Bargin-Box--ID-Help

Coela; Thrace; The Chersonese of Thrace
138--161 AE, 18mm, 3.6g
laureate head of Antoninus Pius, r. IMP CAES ANTONINVS
prow, l.; above, two ears of corn AEL MVNI CVELANI

An example from Forvm. The weight of this coin is 4.10g and 16mm, my coin #2 is only 1.8g and 14mm, maybe it's a barbarous imitation?
Bargin-Box--ID-Help

Bronze dekanummium, SBCV 205, F, Nicomedia mint, 4.10g, 16.0mm, 556-557 A.D.; obverse D N IVSTINIANVS P P AVG, diademed, draped and cuirassed bust right; reverse large I surmounted by a cross between ANNO and XXX (year 30), in ex NIK

Thanks again echizento and DVC. I think I'll soak them for while and see what happens. Not much to lose here.

I also bought a nice Numerian from this dealer which I will post down the line. He is starting to show some interest in ancients and now has a few nice ones, maybe I'll finally have a local source and someone to talk ancients with.
