I hadn't planned on buying any coins (I never do), but I was made an offer I couldn't refuse on this Plautilla Denarius RIC 361, struck at Rome in 202 AD, The reverse on this one shows a lot of detail. And, with the addition of this coin, I now have coins of 16 of the Ladies of Rome:

Another-Lady

Another-Lady

OBV: PLAVTILLAE AVGVSTAE, draped bust right
REV: CONCORDIAE AETERNAE, Plautilla & Caracalla clasping hands

Poor Plautilla. She was forced to marry Caracalla in an arranged marriage only to be exiled with her child and then strangled two years later. The coins with her likeness were most likely struck while her F-I-L was still alive.

Too bad for anyone that took the purple. Including the ladies that met a terrible fate.

This coin is in great condition for it's age. I have coin similar to that but it's 100 years later.

Wow it looks like it was struck yesterday...

I dont have any ancients in my collection (1700's is my oldest) but after looking as some of these threads I realise that they aren't all out of my price range and I could get some examples which still retain some detail. Keep posting these coins and I am sure to get drawn in.
