can you indentify bunch of medieval coins from Northern Europe? There is not years on the coins or it is not possible to see. Livonia, Riga, Russia... There some errors, off strike or?
I really stumble with the Lombardic script found on European hammered coins. Sadly, because of this, my World collection is under represented with early European hammered coinage.
I have a very scholarly book: 'Coins of Medieval Europe', by Grierson, well illustrated, but it is not a picture reference like a Krause catalogue.
I do note that the last coin is a Russian wire denga.
Mostly Livonia.Solidus coins.Top left Riga mint.2nd and 4th Poland 1/2 grossus.Could be Sigismundus Augustus.Last two-Russia wire kopek.Not necessarily denga.First of them is probably Ivan the Terrible but I'm not 100% positive.Nice lot
