Is the coin on the right a wide rim?
I went to the bank and searched through there SBAs and took a handful. But I cannot tell if this is a wide-rim or just poorly struck.

I don't think it's a wide rim looks more like a MAD depending on the reverse. http://www.smalldollars.com/dollar/page29.html

First glance I said to myself no. But I really am not sure. I looked for one of these for a lonnnnnnnng time, then I finally knew it when I saw it. Let me dig it out and snap a pic to compare. Be right back!

Doesn't look like one to me. The wide rim or near date is only on the p mint mark which you have but the date on the near date almost touches the rim with the 1 and the last 9.It appears on your coin that the edge has been flattened .

Oh well, at least I got 2 $2 star bills from the bank to make me feel better, even though they are still worth $2.
Rest in Peace

The bank let you search their SBAs and take what you want?

Yes. Not all will do that, but you have to ask. Go right to the branch manager.
I have better luck with credit unions than the big names. I searched through what they had ( SBA ($1000), halves ($40), dollar coins ($1500) and (6 straps) of $2 bills.)

That's probably why "wide rim" is called "wide rim near date" by ANACS for that coin.
