This is definitely circulated. Seems to have good detail and luster but there's that gouge above the 19 in the date and another on about half an inch to the left of it. Also the long scratch across the coin obverse passing the crown of the King's head. How would that affect the grading? Thanks!

For wear, from the scan it looks somewhere between a VF30 and an EF40.

The reverse groove might be written off as a bad bag mark, but the obverse scratch looks really significant, and would probably get a "scratched" notation from a grading service.

However, it's a rare date.

EF40
Canadian circulated coins are traditionaly graded on wear only, scratches and gouges do not influence grade. They do however impact value, drastically.

HI,

The coin should grade at a xf-30 but I would pay for it as it was worth a vf-30 coin(because of the gouges and elongated scratch).

thanks,
