Hi I have a 1970 dime un circulated as far as I can tell, as it is in mint condition, it has a P above the date and a P below the date, which is obviously a strike error, because of this, is this coin very valuable to a serious collector or just worth novelty value, any input greatly appreciated thank you.

Hi, thank you for your reply, two things, firstly I'm happy you say it cant happen cos that must add some value to this coin, I just rechecked the coin to make totally sure I was seeing both the p's and yes there is a P above and below the date, I double checked with magnifying glass, sadly the second thing is I need to buy a decent camera, cos I just spent almost an hour taking pics and up loading them with my digital camera and it has not got a good enough zoom, now lets say hypothetically I have what I say I have, is it worth me paying a photographer to take the pics for me, as I am sure this would be at least $50

a P mint mark was not put on coins in 1970 (wasn't until 1980). That must be PMD

As fuzzy has correctly stated above, the Philadelphia coins had no mint mark until the 1980 issue. All the previous coins from Philadelphia had no mint mark at all. Post a picture or a scan of the coin I would love to see this Are the "p's " raised or incuse

Trout If you read above to the first poster, I replied that I tried this but my zoom is not good enough I asked hypothetically If I have what I say I have, is it worth me paying a photographer to take the pics for me, as I am sure this would be at least $50-$100

can you post any picture? zoom would help, but zoom is not required for us to get some idea of how the coin appears

think trout made a change after you read his reply:
are the letter P's raised or stamped in the coin?
