Nancy has already highlighted sin number one. https://goccf.com/t/113907&whichpage=1Sin number two. Representing common coins as "scarce" or "rare" (and suggesting is valuable) -An unrealistic, high starting price is optional. OK, a wavy 2, an incused millenium or very good, genuine error. I am sure you can provide your own examples. Sin number three. Using photos stolen from another seller or a website. This is very common; my photos have turned up elsewhere and my wife has found my photos of her china regularly (often from other countries). From now on all our photos will be watermarked. A variation of this is to use a stock photo but not saying so. I have used stock photos when I have several listings of bulk coins, all the same; but I always mention that. Otherwise, every photo is of the actual item offered. Sin number four. Putting highest bid on an item, never paying and never responding to enquiries from seller. This happens to me regularly and eventually you can have the sale cancelled (but too late for a second chance offer) and lots of time wasted to do so. Any bidder only does this to me once and immediately then goes onto my blocked bidder list. Sin number five. Changing your mind and asking the seller to cancel your bid. ebay has an easy to use bid retraction system but "changed my mind" is not an allowable reason to give. Even worse, wait until item has less than twelve hours to go -then bid retraction is not allowed. But you can ask the seller to cancel the item! Sin number six. Wait until item has only a few minutes to go and ask a question about it. As if the seller is sitting by just to answer the question RIGHT NOW. For best effect the question should either be completely frivolous or very complex. Sin number seven. Your turn. Suggestions please. Suggestions for discouraging this ratbaggery welcome. Jeff

1./ Thou shalt not attempt to sell false errors. 2./ Thou shalt not post deceiving images of coins 3./ Thou shalt not over grade or BS about a coin you list. 4./ Thou shalt not sell fake coins. 5./ Thou shalt not charge ridicules postage on items. 6./ Thou shalt not post items late. 7./ Thou shalt not pull items if they don't seem to be making the price you want. 8./ Thou shalt have a good return policy without charging a re stocking fee. 9./ Thou shalt be honest and open in all aspects of your listing. 10./ Thou shall cop my wrath if thou do not abide by the other commandments.

It is very sad when you can say that most of that crap has happened to me at some point. I've had: -Stolen photos -Then people copying your colour for background (in my case fuzzy pink) I don't mind trying to be like me, but seriously the exact same shade of pink is just sad. -winning the item then "changing mind" because they bid on an similar item from someone else. -winning the item then pretending to have paid (that was one tough week) I have all my blocks up and some people have there names on the blocked buyers page and you still get some nutters get thru. I must admit I have broken the rule of last minute questions. I might have not seen an item in ebay search, and it turned up in with 1h to go or less, I still ask questions. As I always watch my items end to combine postage and send invoices, I can probably answer questions up to 10 min from ending. (Pet peeves for me) What ill take a picture from 1m away so the coin is microscopic or Hay I don't know how to use a camera, the blurred the better. Seriously this kind of behaviour just proves that you're a crap seller.

I must also say that I too am guilty of number six. But in my defense I ran across a seller with a lot of items I wanted and asked if she did combined shipping with only 3 hrs left. I really did not want to pay $3 per coin for shipping. She did and I scored some nice coins.

Quote: asked if she did combined shipping with only 3 hrs left NOT GUILTY You may go now. You didn't leave it until the last few minutes.

postage is my biggest frustration as a buyer - if I think that a seller has an inflated view of the value of his "handling", I don't bid. the more bidders = higher final price; less bidders = lower final price. Some sellers don't seem to think this through ...

So, you've all identified the offences. Now you need to apply appropriate punishments to these crimes.....

Number seven... Quote: Should be one more; Thou shalt not delay shipping after payment! That's it, we now have seven sins. Now penalties for transgression? Waiting for suggestions. Jeff

Ausjack - agreed. Keldaw - your method sounds environmentally unfriendly, and ecologically unsound. Bring back the rope, I say: that way, everything is re-usable, and ultimately recyclable, except, of course, the offender. Call me soft, but I think Spg's suggestion is best reserved for for first offenders.

I recently had a buyer respond with payment TWO WEEKS after the auction closed! This is after three separate invoices were sent out over the first week. I just about gave up on him. I wish that I could delay shipping for the same amount of time that he took, but I have a feedback reputation to uphold of 100%.
Thou shall pay on time, within three days of auction close.
