I have a $1000 dollar confederate bill, #176A, dated May 28th 1811.
How can I tell if this is the real deal?
Thanks

Are you sure about the date? Is it actually 1861?

Being that it pre-dates the civil war by 50 years that would make me question it.

Does it look like this?

It's definitely supposed to be a "6" since, as Coinaholic said, the Confederate States didn't exist in 1811.

And you can be sure that any note listed on the Bogus Note List is going to be a reproduction.

It's looks like a replica, even the serial number matches the bogus list. The signatures and date should be hand signed and not printed as these appear. This one looks like it was artificially aged also.

CSA money only was around 1861-1865, Why? Well because thats when the CSA were aound.
I have $1.00, $2.00, $5.00, $10,00 $20.00,$50.00 and $100.00 Confederate bills
all were printed from 1861 through 1864.
I do not have a $500.00 or $1,00.00 pieces.
Just a part of my War between the States coin and currency collection.
