Definitely a premium on the North African yellow seal. No $2 yellow seals were issued that I know of. They were used during WW2.

It is in really good condition. One big crease in the middle, but otherwise crisp looking.

Yellow Seal 'North Africa' note is by far the most valuable of the set. Issued during World War II. The others only carry a small premium over face value ($1.5 - $2)
Star notes are replacement notes for bills damaged in printing or for some other reason destroyed. By law each bill must be marked with different serials, so a destroyed note is reprinted with the same number preceded by a star to fill the exact quantity of notes ordered by the treasury.

Yes I just peeked at ebay and one had a starting bid of $33. My father in law asked me to look into them before he splits them up between the three sons. He says he has more yellow seals and is also going to look for brown seals. I have a feeling that when my brother in laws receive their inheritance I will be getting phone calls. I tried to talk to them about coins over the weekend and it was blank stares all around.

The book in the link might be a good show binder, but I'd put valuable bills into a archive quality mylar sleeve before setting in the album. Often the album pages are PVC plastic and may eventually leak onto the bill. Hope I'm not bursting any bubbles, but with any creases at all in the notes you've shown you're looking at about $25-$30 value for all 5 notes combined. I wouldn't weigh too much into it for an inheritance unless he's got some other rare and higher grade notes. Sentimental value is another issue though

As for the paper money, he gave me a decent sized stack. I pulled these 5 out because they had a star and the yellow seal. There are more silver certs and 2 dollar bills, but nothing of significance. Some of the silver certificates are in mint condition and in consecutive numbers.

There are people (like myslef) who collect Paper Currency by Series designators. I am always looking for UNC "hole fillers" What are you going to do with these new "assets"?

I may actually sell a few of them. I think I can put them up for sale once I hit 250, right?
