My old (1st Edition) Whitman Guide Book of United States Currency defines a RADAR note as: "Radar Number or Palindrome -- a number reading the same forward or backward such as 25388352. (All Solid Numbers are, of course Radars too.)"
I guess having the block letter and FRB letter match as well would make it a better RADAR note, but I don't think it's required. At least, that's my opinion.

oriole - Most interesting. I would not know how to do that math for sure and find that ratio most intriguing. I don't collect the fancies either, even though I'm O/C lite I think.

When collecting fancy serial numbers, the letters are not of real importance. If you have a radar note with say serial number 00066000 (or any radar number) are you going to spend it because the letters before and after don't match? Of course not. Look at all the radar notes being sold on ebay that don't have matching letters.

I am so glad the suffix and prefix don't have to be the same or I'd have to pass on this note as a radar:

tech - Beautiful Lebanon note, great sigs.
Personally, I have never considered letters a part of the radar (or palindrome, same thing) definition. Makes no sense, especially given today's FRN prefix system. And you mean you can't have a radar star?

I personally don't see how the term "radar" applies to the first note, which is a binary double quad repeater with no palindromic aspects, though very nice for sure. The second is a true binary radar note, most impressive.

What would we call this one besides a radar?

To me it's just a nice radar, not sure what else.

I was thinking because its also a radar if you turn it upside down there may be some sort of special name.

bronco - Got it. I have no idea to tell the truth. Notes with only 0,1,6,8 and 9 in their radar sequence could potentially qualify for this if the numbers lined up right.
