Two new additions to my ever-growing horse-themed collection arrived today. They are superb examples of Swiss medals, both purchased from a member of the NGC forum, and "guru" of Swiss Shooting Medals and Thalers.
The first is an 1892 medal struck to commemorate the Reunion of the Society of Officers of the Swiss Confederation. The reunion was held in Geneva on Jul 30-Aug 1 of 1892 (the first time in was held in Geneva since 1860). This medal is almost flawless with smooth red/brown surfaces and a great full strike. The medal is a whopping 5.4mm thickness and 45mm in diameter, and was graded MS66BN by NGC.
The second medal is a shooting festival medal struck in 1938. It is massive at 60mm diameter. I haven't been able to hunt down too much information on this medal yet, but this example is graded MS64BN by NGC, and resides in an oversize holder roughly 5" x 8".
