Yup...that is a DDO...If you show a pic of the date and Liberty we probably will be able to tell you which one you have found..From the pics provided it looks like it could be 003 or 006..but more pics will be needed for positive ID (well at least I can't be positive with the pics...maybe others will)

Congrats!

Nice pics....I'm not positive but here is my reasoning on why I think its 1972P-1D0-006.

Specificaly the "9" in the date. On the 003 the 9 looks alot thicker. The 9 on your coin and the coin shown on Coppercoins 006 the 9 is thinner at the 11 o'clock position. Also the doubling on "IN GOD WE" is spread more on the 003 than the 006. These are just my ideas...More people will chime in I am sure.

Congrats again.

Check to see if you can find any die markers that match the below page

Oh well, I guess I have to start sometime on these.
Offer an opinion and see where it leads.
At first I just kept looking for markers assuming it was a DDO.
That made me think a Later 008
Then was going back and forth on how I was not seeing the separation
that I thought should be present. Also the shelving etc. that was present. Then I had doubts about it so thought some die movement plus
deterioration going on. Will know soon enough I suppose.

I think it matches 003 pretty well in strength, the doubling on the L in LIBERTY seems too strong for 006. Too bad the coin has taken so many hits in all the wrong places.Still a cool find.
Rest in Peace
