Hello everyone.

Recently I received a Sonic Vibrate Cleaner.

Just wondering if I put my Silver Coin in to the Cleaner and use the Water to do the sonic Vibrate clean. Will that do any Harm to the Coin ?

No harm would be done to the coin, but for simple cleaning, an acetone bath will clean most of the removeable dirt from a coin without affecting the patina.

Most collectors say "Don't clean coins!"
They are right.

Sonic cleaners are far more effective for cleaning jewelry.

Is it a coin with numismatic value or junk silver?

If its junk then I dont see any harm. If it has numismatic value then dont.

If you type ultra sonic cleaner in the search box upper left of page you will find a lot of info. I think it would damage a collectible coin because the coin will be moving against the basket.

Ultrasonic cleaners work by abrasive action, vibrating the water and detergent solution at more than 20,000 cycles per second.

I WOULD NOT use an ultrasonic cleaner on any coin. It is a guaranteed way to lower its value considerably.

There is no harm with an ultrasonic bath, using only distilled water. It is not abrasive, unless you put abrasive agents in the bath. Find a plastic basket for the coin. Pat the coin dry.
