Today during work I stopped at the store to pick up a couple of bottles of water. Myself and a kid approached the cashier at the same time. I politely told him he could go first. He said thanks and paid for his $5 gas purchase with a handfull of large coins. I asked the cashier if they were halves and she said yes, would you like them. I couldn't get my money out fast enough. There were 8 halves and 1 Susan B dollar.

ALl the halves were clad Kennedys, but 2 stood out. An 1893 Columbian Trade half, and a 1904 Barber half. I sold he Columbian to a co-worker for $5 and kept the other.

Perfect Timing.

Great find.

With lady luck smiling on you today I might have tried to push it a little and see how good of a mood she was in with a lottery ticket or two

Yeah I know, I already had a Columbian half and he did not. He roll hunts and a nice gesture from me gets me a return from him in the future. I still made a quick 10X profit.

The cashier said he probably stole them from his Mom. I told her she was probably right. She also said she collects halves and sees them come through quite often.

I got a nice xf 29s Buffalo nickle from a kid in line at the store to buy a candy bar, and also some worn ones. I saw the coins in his hand and bought his the candy bar and he gave me the coins and I gave him an extra buck. And the cashier got mad at me as she wanted them also. Probably out of Dad`s collection

Nice deal on getting the 1893 Columbian half, and a 1904 Barber half! It's a shame that kid probably swiped them from someone's collection. Hopefully it was from his own collection.
