I am newer to coin collecting and have decided to stick more to Morgans and buffalo head nickels, I was just wondering if anyone has any advice on what to look for and what to watch out for. Thanks

On Morgan's, decide what level of full you are going to collect. I decided some Morgan's were more than I wanted to spend, so I stuck with a Date set. Or you can go for the full set.
You can also go either TPG coins or raw/loose coins. Then you can decide on how to store them, albums or pages to hold slabs.

Buffalo nickels, decide if you want acid treated coins included. Acid treatment can reveal dates, but does some damage to the coins.

You have good taste! Enjoy.

Morgans seem to be commonly counterfeited, so keep a book handy and look at them critically. Study lots of them to learn the features and details and some fakes will jump right pout at you. Use a magnet and scale.

Morgans do seem to be a popular counterfit target.

I might suggest even if you want them raw and not to spend a lot on them buying them slabbed already and then break it out for the extra assurance its real.
