Hi came across this coin and admit, I've never seen it before.
Is it an unissued coin ? Thanks in advance.

They are privately minted crowns, struck with absolutely no government authorization and struck in several series by different issuers long after the "1936" date; as the slab says, this one is from the 1954 series.

As for the question "why is it slabbed", the American TPGs will slab anything that's listed in one of their recognized catalogues, the "Unusual World Coins" Krause book is one of those recognized catalogues, and these fantasy patterns are listed in UWC; "X-M1A" is the UWC catalogue number.

It should perhaps be pointed out at this point that such "fantasy crowns" exist in the name of every country that was part of the British Empire back in 1936, and that anyone attempting to sell the Canadian fantasies on ebay will likely get their listing cancelled, because the Canadians are particularly fanatical about enforcing their anti-counterfeiting laws and ebay USA has prohibited them.

To add my 2 bob's worth to SAP's comment;

I'm pretty confident a bucketload of these were re-minted again in the 1980s - though I can't shed any light on how you would recognise your 1954 example or a 1980s example.

They are a dime a dozen on ebay, just keep your eyes peeled
(I've often noticed them in decimal section though, funnily enough, and not the pre-decimal section).
