The problem with selling them as copper is you have to melt them, the guy at the scrapyard is not going to go through a ton of pennies looking at dates.

For me the things that happened on pre 1982 penny has happened in silver only this time for me its copper coins.

For me stock them and have a set of lincoln if other set have a hole let other fill it you can give some to children or school or a give away in this forum its all upto you or sell it to ebay by date set the remaining a reserve if dont see any variety or rarity you can despose it as you like, for me I will check for variety even how common and have a set of common variety.

copper penny is endangered even others are telling that is expensive to melt but there is a scrap yard have a melting facilities and they can melt it if they like but countries I know prohibits them to do so and punished if caught.

Well the copper pennies are still there it is better to look for a variety until the time they will be recalled by the mint or the govt. just an opinion.

...in my own personal opinion, don't do ebay. It is a buyers market, and sellers only are there to pay the CEO's paychecks. This is my personal opinion experience...

I see this kind of thing fairly often, but I don't understand the thinking...

There also seem to be a lot of people stealing copper wiring from construction sites and street lights...

Wow, 7 cents apiece. I could live with that. To heck with worrying about melt value, I like the ebay melt down myself.

I was impressed with the results of Bobby and Susan's wheaties auction results. I figured maybe $200 at the start, but it did significantly better and I think the buyer did well also. Has anyone seen a prior ebay listing for pre 82'S? Pennybright, I'll bet if you listed them you wouldn't be disappointed. If you decide to list them let us know, it would be fun to watch. But don't do it for our entertainment.

Most of mine are not wheaties though. I do keep those separate, and have maybe 50, would definitely throw those into the lot. Still think there are worth posting on ebay? If so, what do you think I should start at (price-wise)?

Congratulations. You don't mind me asking, how many pennies did you have to go through?

Spider.

I had a total of 100 unsearched rolls. Why do I think they were unsearched? The totals pretty much confirm it.

I pretty sure I missed some others because after looking over the first 700 or so, the eyes got blurry and the head was pounding horribly so I just hurried through the rest.

How true you are Pennybright. The finds were great but after looking through loupes and microscopes at all those in such a short time really messed up my eyes.

Question then - how could making a sculpture from pennies, or picture frame from pennies, or even those token flattening machines be "legal"?
