I met a guy from Canada who said the Royal Canadian Mint is the best in the world, and "the US Mint is s***".

While such remarks aren't worth replying to, I am curious about the general quality of both, as compared to the rest of the developed world.

I've seen very nice examples of gold Canadian coins in the shops, and obviously plenty of fine examples from the US mint. My general impression is that both are top notch.

I wouldn't describe either as being ****. Although I do like the bimetallic coins.
Rest in Peace

I like the coins from both mints, as well as coins from the UK and Australian mints.

I like them both , however its shames me to Admit that the RCM is very innovative and easier to Purchase from. Now as US = S++T I don't think so, But maybe that is more the patriot talking and not the coin collector

While I would agree that the Royal Canadian Mint is one of the best in the world, I would never say that the United States mint was in any way below par. My favourite mints would have to be Royal Canadian, Royal British, Royal Australian and the United States Mint.

The Canadian and Australian mints are probably among the most innovative and inventive in the world. The British mint produces incredibly high standard products, and the US mint produces interesting and attractive circulating coinage as well as gold and silver bullion coins that are probably the most classical and enduring designs worldwide.

In some areas the Canadian mint falls well below the standard of the US Mint. Especially in the quality of their bullion coins. The maple leafs are known for having rather prominent vertical lines that run through the fields of the coins. The lines are particularly more noticeable on the smaller gold bullion leaf coins. The US gold and silver eagles do not suffer from this problem.
