Hi,

I'm new to collecting. I've got some proof sets coming in and I was wondering as these are uncirculated, are these sets more valuable as a whole untouched in the original US Mint cellophane bags they come in?

does the original cellophane bag and brown envelope lend towards it's value, or it would be just as well to re-pack them in new plastic airtites?

thanks in advance :)

Proof sets are not made for circulation. These coins will be packaged in a hard plastic case. Proof coins are made specifically for collectors. As far as the mint sets go, some people cut them out of the cellophane and place them in albums or have them slabbed. As far as cutting them out to put in a 2x2, I would just leave them in the original packaging. It all boils down to your preference because they are your coins.

Well think about it. If everyone else starts to cut them up because they don't like the casing, eventually originnal packaging would be so rare that people will pay quality money for original packaging.

It's totally up to you though. However if you damaged the coin while remove from the casing, well you got yourself to blame for. Welcome to coincommunity by the way.

i would recommend keeping them in original packaging for right now.
Remember, if you remove them, there's no turning back.

Welcome to the forum, As everyone already said, I too would keep them in the cellophane package. Unless you have a reason to remove them, if not then they should stay where they are.
