Typically very worn British halfpenny. Very pricey in top condition.

Someone was obviously missing The Second!

If the maker was counting on people not to pay attention to the legend, same goes for the date (or the monarch).

Nice piece, I'm still fishing for my first evasion coin!

If the "11" is not there, and the legends are deliberately blundered, this coin is a contemporary counterfeit.

I didn't mean someone had missed putting "II" on the coin, I referred to KG2 as "The Second". Sometimes people feel nostalgic about former rulers.

But it is not a fact that this piece was manufactured in 1771. They probably used whatever combination of dates/effigies was available on their dies.

George Rules!
