I thought I could post a few pics of my own and get your opinions, hopefully someone will tell me what I can do to improve these images.

This is the last coin I bought. Ukrainian 2 Hryvnia 2006, with the grasshopper on it.

I took quite a few pics but these are the best. Two reflecting the ceiling and two reflecting a black book- hence the black background.

I liked the first one the best. Although all are taken with the same settings, small changes of the angle of light or something with the camera itself made them look sightly different.

Settings were:
White balance: flourescent (since that's the bulb I have in my room)
ISO: 100

I used a tripod and delayed shutter. I doubt my camera is capable of any better, but am always willing to try :)

Any comments / recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Both sets look good, Renal.

I also prefer the top set. The bottom set would look better if the background was a different colour, too much black. IMHO.

Very nice pictures. I prefer the top set, but I really like how the details stand out on the bottom set. Either set is worth posting here.

Thank you very much for the nice comments.

I still think the details need to be a little sharper.

Next time I'll try a green object, in stead of black, that may be better with the grasshopper :)

Nice pics, RenaL
My personal preference for proof coins is the second set. I think the black makes the mirrors show up SOOOO much better. I use the "black book" trick, too

I think they are both good. I can't make up my mind which I like best.
