Hello all, so I'm pretty new to coin collecting and I bought this Mercury dime off of ebay which was advertised as a BU 1941 Mercury dime. The description says it was found in a roll in an attic. Upon receiving the dime and examining it under a high powered microscope, I've noticed a lot more scratches than there are on my uncirculated walking liberty dollar. Then again, the dollar is in a plastic holder. So I leave it to your judgement. I'm sorry the pics aren't any clearer, my camera is terrible at close-up photography. Let me know what you think!

I think it was cleaned. The scratches look to be made in a cleaning motion. ( circular)
Its still a nice coin even though it's been cleaned. Some people like clean coins and others like it in its original state.

Btw, to the community.

I can't tell if it's cleaned from the blurry photos, but it's looks to be a heavily marked up AU-MS coin. Maybe MS60.

It is impossible to tell from those pictures. However, die polishing lines are frequently confused with hairlines. The key differences are that die polishing lines are in relief unlike hairline scratches and polishing lines will go underneath, not over, devices.

with all the above!

Hope you didn't pay too much for it, and if you feel that its been cleaned, asked for a return.

The picture is not clear enough for me, I will have to go with what the others said.

Golden Nickel:
How did you go about getting all of those Israeli coins, I have been checking sites for a while now
and can't find much, mint sets aren't to hard to find but one of each coin looks difficult, is there an album for that
