Would anyone know where detailed information can be retrieved online(or physically)relating to the US Mints and respective branches during the 19th century?
IE die and equipment maintenance records, personnel records and day to day operations etc.
(Besides the US archive data base website)
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, thankyou.

My guess would be that those types of records will only be available in hard copy form. Records werent digital back then and I doubt that they have been uploaded since then. Theres such a backlog of things that need to be put into digital form doesn't seem like they would be at the top of the list.

And Welcome

It sounds like a trip to the National Archives may be the best choice to get this data.

Ooops - and Welcome!

To CCF!

It does sound like the Nat. Archive is your best bet. What is your Thesis statement?

Welcome to Coin Community. Unfortunately, I think the only place you'll find data of sufficient quantity and accuracy is in Philadelphia at the National Archives. I'm in a similar situation for other reasons, and frankly I'm about to move to Philadelphia to solve the problem.

It is possible to find bits and pieces online but nothing comprehensive. Even with the national archive you are going to find it frustrating to get comprehensive information as many of the records are now missing (In some cases they are just misfiled, in other cases they were scrapped and one of the Mint Directors did a wholesale destruction of mint records rather than let them fall into the hands of researchers.) and they are also scattered in archive depositories around the country

As soon as the show is over, I'm starting the job hunt in Philly.
