I picked up a nicer Trade dollar last night and would like to see what the CCF thinks about the upgrade. I borrowed this idea from a fellow member (Moe145) on the "out-going and in-coming coin comparison". Your feedback is encouraged and appreciated! Upon arrival and acceptance of the "new" Trade dollar, I will be selling the "old" Trade dollar. I picked up the "old" one raw at a coin show earlier this year and sent it in to ANACS, it came back as "Chopmarked - Cleaned AU-50 Details". Not really sure how much it would bring at auction.

The new Trade dollar is just gorgeous. The old one is really nice too. I will guess AU-50, chopmark on the outgoing and AU-53 on the incoming.

I've always wanted a chop-marked Trade dollar for my type set; too bad my budget is tapped right now otherwise I'd be interested in your "old" one.

the new is old and the old one is "old" too--probably out of my budget also

I would like to get "XF" money for the "old" AU Details dollar. Is that about how it works, knock down a grade for "cleaning"? I realize that there are no hard fast rules for cleaned coins, and the potential buyer(s) could go off the deep end in an auction frenzy. I guess we'll see at the auction block.

I would be hoping for $200 for the AU50 Trade dollar to break even.

I actually like the crusty looking coin vs the new upgrade

Thanks for the reality check amida17, one can always hope. I'll see what this little piggy brings at the market, and hopefully somebody will want bacon.

@mkman123: I suppose the old coin does have a "traded" quality to it. But doesn't the history shows that these coins failed as a trade unit? 50/50... Who's better: ANACS or NGC?
