I have two mint unopened rolls of 1993 and 1994 Canadian nickels. I'm very new at this and am wondering if I was to crack these rolls and send them in to a TPG would I get any grades good enough to make the slab fees worth it?

Not trying to be a "wise-guy" but just about anything from MS-60 through MS-67, provided that is an original uncirculated roll. Being that they are nickels, you should do fairly well!

oih82w8,

That's actually the answer I was assuming I would get. So basically you're saying there is no guaranteed that there'd even be a MS65+ in the roll.

So basically this is a gamble. I could sell the unopened roll for 10-15$ or crack it open directly into 2x2s and hope a diamond stands out

I would say you would be extremely lucky to find anything in 5-cent rolls from the early 1990s above MS-64. Quality of Winnipeg-produced coins then, is not much different than it is now... I recently bought a box of each year 1993-1994-1995-1996. I cracked open all the 1996 rolls with the Queen on both ends (roll buyers like to see the date) - 14 rolls in all. I did not find a single MS-65 in lot. I sold the rest of the rolls earlier this year.
