I recently received a coin I purchased and once again was surprised to find another coin as a gift in the package. I emailed the seller to thank him and asked if he participated on any on-line discussion boards. He does. On occasion he participates on forumancientcoins.com. I took the opportunity to invite him to join us here. But, in the meantime I wanted to give him a plug. This is the second time I have purchased coins from him and received a free coin just for being a customer. The coins I have purchased have been exactly what he advertised and the shipping costs are reasonable. His ebay name is bjimperials, St Louis, MO, and I can highly recommend him as a seller. Now to the free coin. It's not much to look at, but remember it was free. I have it attributed as an AE 20 of Severus Alexander, BMC 103, struck at Nicaea, 222-235 AD: OBV: M AVP CEVH ALEXANDROC AV, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right REV: N-IK-AI-E / WN between and beneath three standards 3.8g, 20mm

Not bad for an 1800 year old coin. These coins are addictive and come out of the ground all the time.May I suggest Rotographic's books on Roman coins...cheap as chips (about £5/£6 each...bronze and silver) I have enjoyed many a night in Id'ing Roman's. Try UK ebay for some beauties. It is a great learning curve.

Dido.Surprise! Just got this coin unexpectedly today along with one I had recently purchased. I have not ID'd it yet. 16mm, 2.8g The one I bought was a Victory/Prow that I was hoping was a 1st officina from Siscia, but alas it was the 2nd officina as accurately described by this seller. Nevertheless it's a nice one and if any new collector needs a Constantinopolis City Commem for their collection PM me and I'll send it along.
