A significant premium exists above Glenn's prices, if the mule coin is also a "no chrome" version...

Appreciate the insights offered...
My own thoughts on the current suggested pricing for this particular coin is that it is "set to-high" in relation to the availability...
Therefore, I believe the pricing should be adjusted downward from what it is presently at...
Comments, insights, thoughts, opinions are welcomed...

2] 1962 5¢, Double Date...
I view this listing to be "harmful" as it is presented in Trends...
There are several stages to this difference and to "blanket" all the stages as one-type, does not seem proper in my opinion...
I view the present Trends listing as being representative of the 1st stage to this difference; *Light date only doubling.
Look forward to hearing the viewpoints of others...

If we accept Rob Turner's statistics and conclusions about the 1858 1-cent mintage figures, then certainly that coin is overpriced...

Thank you for bringing this coin to the forefront of our attention Roger!
Not familiar with Rob Turner's 1858 efforts applied ... just knowing how he has represented his work through discussions and how fellow hobbyists have praised-highly his efforts put-forward ... is testimonial-enough for me to believe and accept that his work is accurate...
I have for some time now, viewed the pricing the 1858 1¢ coin as being "set to-high"...

In the interest of keeping things in some form order in which to reference...
3] 1858 1¢ ... pricing schedule in general...
What are the thoughts towards the pricing schedule for this coin?

I bought the 1953 5¢, Shoulder fold/strap far-leaf (Mule) with and without chrome a couple of months back. Including taxes and shipping I paid $232.35 for an ICCS F15 and $1695.00 for a CCCS EF45 respectively if that helps you.

RE: 1] 1953 5¢, Shoulder fold/strap far-leaf (Mule)...
Appreciate the input kuh_85 and yes, such is very helpful!
Focusing on the F15/16 grade purchased at 232.35 and the current suggested being about 350.00...
Would anyone care to suggest a different value for this grade or is the 350.00 about bang-on?

Thanks glenzy1 for your chart!
>>>>>>>>>>>> g-4:$100.00 < = 25.00 per grade point >>>>>>>>>>> Vg-8:$200.00 < = 25.00 per grade point >>>>>>>>>>> F-12:$300.00 < = 25.00 per grade point >>>>>>>>>> VF-20:$400.00 < = 20.00 per grade point >>>>>>>>>> EF-40:$650.00 < = 16.25 per grade point >>>>>>>> AU-50:$1,000.00 < = 20.00 per grade point >>>>>>>>> MS-60$1,650.00 < = 27.50 per grade point >>>>>>>> MS-62:$2,500.00 < = 40.32 per grade point >>>>>>>> MS-63:$4,000.00 < = 63.49 per grade point >>>>>>>>>> MS-64:$10,000 < = 156.25 per grade point > MS-65:$20,000-$30,000.00< = 307.69 to 461.54 per grade point
* F15 at 350.00 = 23.33 per grade point... * F16 at 350.00 = 21.875 per grade point...
I believe that an equally-applied-$-value-per-grade-point system would be much more uniform and much more realistic for differences ... but, maybe my thoughts on the matter are...
I've been toying with setting the bar at 18.75 per point;any thoughts? should it be higher? should it be lower? dts...

Perhaps a reasoning for my direction is in order : )...
Starting August 11th I will be expanding the dts Average, beginning with the 5¢ section 1953 to 1964...
I've listened for many, many, many years to fellow hobbyists explain how there exists one difficulty or another with price-lists and how they are not being listened to by those that do such...
So, I thought it would be a good idea to include others by way of asking about "specific" upcoming concerns...
But as the good-book says ... whenever two or more are gathered, things get complicated : )...
Thank you very much to those who have shared insights ... it has been a greater help than words can express!

cbu,it won't work. If F12= $300 and VF20=$400 F15 will be about $362 not $350,if you plot a graph of prices it is not linear, there is no average.

cbu - While a value per grade point might work on some lower grades, it definitely won't on the higher grades. It would suggest that a MS-65 is only worth 1.5% more than a MS-64, when frequently 65s are worth 2x or 3x more than 64s.

DBM - I quickly placed the F15 at the in-between value of 350.00 for visual purposes...
Present Value Scale...
F12 ---------- Trends: 300.00 F13 = 312.50 F14 = 325.00 F15 = 337.50 F16 = 350.00 Mid Point F17 = 362.50 F18 = 375.00 F19 = 387.50 VF20 ---------- Trends: 400.00
With the per point scale and "IF" it is set at 18.75...
(F) 12-points x 18.75 per point = 225.00 F13 = 243.75 F14 = 262.50 F15 = 281.25 (F) 16-points x 18.75 per point = 300.00 F17 = 318.75 F18 = 337.50 F19 = 356.25 (VF) 20-points x 18.75 per point = 375.00
jg86 - Appreciate your observations and this is certainly an area of the pricing scale ... that simply "baffles" me...
The Unc grades begin at 50,55,58,60,61,62,63,64,65,66 etc...
The 63 to 64 OR 64 to 65 (1-point difference), is 1-measly-point really worth such HUGH premiums?

Quote: The 63 to 64 OR 64 to 65 (1-point difference), is 1-measly-point really worth such HUGH premiums? As a collector of higher end mint state small cents, and grade rarity business strike nickel dollars, the short answer is "yes".
