Working in a cash office/as a cashier I came across this, slightly larger than a quarter, in near mint condition coin. It is some type of Vatican coin, but I was wondering if it is currency or not? And if so, what the value might be.
it is indeed a Vatican City coin. Krause catalog KM173. It is a 100 Lire coin, dated 1983 (see the roman numerals). I think it is still valid currency in the Vatican. it has a catalog value of $1.50 (or so) in XF condition. made of stainless steel
If the Vatican has the same redemption policy and deadlines as Italy (which I assume), that coin became "worthless" on 7 Dec 2011. Before that date it would - when redeemed - have been worth about 52 cent. :)
