Hi Everybody, I am looking for any of the Hans Zoell variety books that were published in the 1960s. Does anybody know where I might be able to find hard copies of these books, and if it possible to purchase electronic copies? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Kitkat, Hans Zoell (to my knowledge) only published softcover pamphlets, no hardcovers. There were 7 or 8 published from about 1960 to about 1970. They are still under copyright, so you will not find any legal electronic copies. The original pamphlets occasionally are available on ebay for about $75 per pamphlet.

Wow $75.00! It'd better be well worth the investment @ $2.00 per page...

If you are lucky. There are usually multiple bidders at that level.

Have you thought about going to a library, and asking for an interlibrary loan for these? You could then photocopy of a portion of it (which is allowed, if for educational purposes only). The Toronto Reference Library would have them. I know that several members of the Ottawa Numismatic Society also have them (myself included), and I see from your profile that you are from Ottawa. If you join and become friends with the members, then you might be able to borrow copies from like-minded collectors.

Thanks for the advice SPP-Ottawa. I will try to get a copy through an inter library loan, but I think that a lot of libraries have stopped offering this service, due to budget cutbacks. I may also talk to some collectors at the Ottawa Coin Show, and see if I can find out more about the Ottawa Numismatic Society. I noticed that George Manz had some of the Zoell books available for $5 each, but of course they were all sold out...what a drag :(

Kitkat1858 Great question. I was wanting to post this question as well. I have 1 book that I purchased at a garage sale for 25 cents a few years ago. I didn't even know what it was. I was just into coins and was buying all I could find related to them. I discovered about a year ago what it actually was. You could try garage sales, thrift stores and second hand stores. I find it is harder to find due to the fact that it almost seems more like a magazine than a book. hopefully they weren't thrown away I haven't found any others. I have been looking.

I see that there is a Hans Zoell 3rd Major Edition on E-Bay at this time.

My estimate was close. The Zoell book went for $66.
