I've done some circulating in my area. The local bank clerks now knows that "the coin with the old bald guy" is called an Eisenhower dollar.

Some store clerks however are still hesitant about the gold presidential coins. Every once in awhile I get some half dollars and dollar coin rolls to use a change in making some purchases. Hardly anyone comments about receiving a Kennedy half. Somehow I just can't bring myself to spend either a Franklin or Liberty half or any of my other silver coins.

I've often thought of spending a Washington half dollar or any other commerative half dollar. I really don't think that a non-collector store clerk would accept them as "real" currency.

I've have put many coins back into circulation, but ones that are not worth much, like beat up wheats, no date BUffs, etc. I figure some kid will get it sooner or later and ask mom or dad about it. Or...an adult will get it and then call his local coin dealer with the great find of the century and will want to know how many hundreds of dollars he will get because, well, you just do not see them in circulation anymore.

I can feel your pain about putting silver into circulation. It hurt really bad putting 40 silver quarters into circulation. I think I would have had a heart attack or a brain aneurysm if I had put 90% silver coins into circulation. But... I feel good because some people are going to find some cool coins.
