Canada post suddenly removes all Bateman Moose coins on their website.
Happy that I ordered some with them.

CP also had the Lismer as 'unavailable for purchase' since at least Friday. Though, I found one at my local post office.

The moose coin is still available to purchase, there is a link on CP's front page:

Or here:

I just tried it, and I can add 7500 coins to my order and proceed to check out. I wonder what would happen when CP sold too many.

i just purchased a few from CP. Don't know if it'll go through though. Likely already sold out but the promotional banner was not removed.

I ordered one last week from CP that arrived today in my mail box - no signature required, no shipping notice e-mail and my CP account still shows as 'order being processed'. Seems like CP is modeling itself after the RCM. lol

In any case, I used my original order to 'reorder' another so like you poboxw, we'll see if they are actually sold out or not.

Edit: 30 minutes after I posted the note above, I received a delivery notification e-mail for the coin that was delivered 5 hours ago.

This coin is a bad investment so I don't know why everyone is hoarding them. I listed mine on ebay for a break even price and there are no takers.

Perhaps too many people are trying to make some quick money out of this coin and now it becomes a buyer's market.

IMHO, as long as CP is still selling it at release price, it will be real hard to see a leap in price. Also the price will be more or less capped by the price set by the large coin retailers (which is 140$ as of today).

Yes, it is the old supply/demand equation. If supply exceeds demand, its a buyer's market.

New release wild life art coin not doing very well.
Remember last month many people here were so excited about the Mantis coin?
But how is it now? No resale value at all. Can grap one anywhere at issue price.
Large group of people are interested in the Perth Mint, Nzmint coins on RFD.

With all due respect to the gent who took the mantis photo, the coin is less than stunning. The detail is just not there and I think the mint took a great subject and failed on the execution. It's not doing well IMO because the finished product is not exceptional. It is also over priced based on precious metal content.

The Bateman coin is a significantly better looking coin. It also has the cache of a world renown artist and it is a full oz of ag compared to just a half oz in the mantis.

Personally, I am not hoarding the Bateman. I have 2 and ordered a third because this coin has gift potential within my family. However, as was pointed out, the cheapest readily available cost now is $140. A $45 (47%) increase in less than a month is not too bad from an investment standpoint. Expect that number to increase over time. As to why, you're not seeing huge bids on ebay; the coin was available for issue price at CP yesterday. Give it a week or a month and you may see selling prices increasing in the secondary market.

I think it can be misleading to estimate a return on investment percentage based on dealer offering prices. Unless you can sell your coin for the same net price (or more), the method will over estimate the ROI. I wouldn't be surprised to find that the same dealer offering coins for sale at $140 would offer less than issue price as his "buy" price when approached with a coin.

The Batemen Moose 1 oz silver may very well develop into a strong coin in the secondary market, it's an attractive coin and does come with a notable pedigree. I do wonder, however, if it might have been over "speculated" at launch.

My point was simply that the coin is selling in excess of issue price (even on ebay). Yes dealer pricing is not a benchmark for ROI but it is an indication of the value that the coin is likely to achieve. Even using $119 (last selling price on ebay, the seller would have netted about 6-7% before their overhead. Is that alot? No. But it's a 6-7% return in about two weeks.

You're correct that dealers would likely not pay a premium for the coin. I'm also sure that the number of NCLT that dealers would offer higher than issue would be a tiny percentage of RCM issues.

I just think that some folks expect every coin to be a Nuthatch and they think that will happen in 30 days or less.

In a world where returns on any investment are measured in single digits (often negative), it seems some people think that NCLT should be paying off 100% the day after they buy the coin.

Don't expect to make all kinds of profit right away on most coins you at least have to wait until it is sold out at dealers before you can expect to do well on ebay. This will make a good profit in about 3 months that's when I will think of starting to sell the ones I have.
