You know a lot more about history then I do You have to realise that Belgium still has a lot of Napoleonistic laws and structure The environmental laws and labour laws were still largely napoleonistic untill a few years ago Factories being classified in nuisance categories is from the time of Napoleon Happily we also took the cooking culture of France and the love of wine For gold coins we were in the Union Latine with France 20 francs being 5.8 grams of gold in all the participating countries

I've studied far too much history to be good, I also enjoy science though so it alleviates and breaks it up a bit.
Hmm food, I kinda like French food, still never tried frogs legs but I'm keen to!
Snails on the other hand, erm since slugs and snails are like one of my biggest phobias somehow i'll give those a miss! :-)
I think though that Italian is about the best I've come across, tomatos are my favourite all time food and thus it comes as no surprise! :-)
English food on the other hand... I get frustrated with it... can these people do nothing without potatoes or bread?!!! grrr...

Forgive me but I had an english girl friend she kind of washed the greens in hot water instead of cooking for 20 minutes ; french fries were a horror and jelly was nice looking but not tasting at all; yorkshire pudding was like something my two english cocker spaniels might like ; about the only thing I liked were hotdogs ( do not talk me about fatty fish and chips ) You should definitely try the frog legs in tomato and green and red pepper sauce they are delicious On the other hand there are at least two different kind of snails I love There is the common garden snail made with garlic as Escargots de Bourgogne and the sea snail made in pepper cellery an an appatiser

I actually did put how much I hated hatred Yorkshire Puddings in my original post but I deleted it in the end... but i'd go one further as I wouldn't feed them to the dog either!
I must admit I likes my vegetables, brocolli! hummm!
I don't eat much meat, not because I particularly have a probvlem with it, but it's just because I find eating meat a real chore, usually too fatty anyhow. Plus I don't like most red meats anyhow, chicken and turkey are good. Rabbit and pork are about my favourite meats but I don't have them all that much.
As for English breakfasts, I can't think of nothing worse than a greasy fryup ina moring. How do people eat baked beans, sausages, fryed eggs and bacon first thing? (How do people eat eggs at all!) Much prefer a croissant or some breakfast cereal, something light.

The last thing I want when I get up is to EAT! It takes me 45 minutes to an hour to get the whole system up and running and even then breakfast doesn't appeal to me. On ocassion I will eat a good breakfast, especially if traveling, but other than that I don't like the idea of weighing myself down to start a day! When I was a kid I think I actually keep General Mills from ever losing any money as I would sit down to a bowl of Wheaties 3 times a day! Now that I am much older I can't hardly make my self fork over the cash they want for a box of cereal so I let my wife do it!!!

I'm not much of a breakfast person, I force myself to have a little because I generally skip lunch. Food wise I tend not to switch on until say 2pm, then from 2pm to about 9pm I could clear every cupboard in the house of food.
I'm just too busy in the mornings to think much about food and I abhor standing in queues at 12.00-13.00 waiting for lunch, most other people will happily stand there forevermore just to have dinner on time! I'd rather wait till half an hour after the rush and go in when it's quiet. Straight to the front, served very quickly, sit down, eat and out in record time.
I'm terrible I'm one of these people thast's forever rushing around... always an hour early and even then i'll be walking flat out to ensure I'm an hour early to the minute. Can't stand being late.

I thought I was the only one around who could not stand to be late All the other people I meet socially or professionally are late As from 5 minutes to 15 minutes is the norm

I specialize in being late as I really haven't seem much in my life that was worth being on time for? Now for my ONLY famous quote! "We eat to survive, we DO NOT survive to eat!" To the best of my limited knowledge that actually came out of my mouth first! Actually had it up in lights at one of the local factories a few years ago! I have been pretty slim most of my life but now that I have finally made it over the hill I am gaining weight! Probably leaning on 160 lbs now! Going to have to force myself to get back on the old racing bicycle as I have a 3 year old who is starting to challenge my endurance a tad bit! Any way, back to the subject, I usually never get seconds when I eat and most of my meat is cut into very small pieces as I tend to eat very quickly and do get bored chewing on a mouthful! Two meals a day is plenty for me but will grab a snack now and then! Keeps me slim for all the coin hunting I MUST do!!! Good thing we don't need a license to hunt coins?

Gonna say I never stop, either eating or moving... I must walk miles everyday. By that I mean walking to the bus stop at the end of the strret, from the bus station to the train station. From the train station at the other end all the way across town. Then I'm constantly walking from one building/room to another up flights of stairs, down flights of stairs, up some more stairs. (I hate elevators and i'd rather walk it! I don't like being suspended in small compartments over a big drop). I'd walk it any day, 5 stories or 10 I'm not bothered, even 20 would be preferable to catching a lift up!
Then I spend my lunch breaks wandering around town. Days off I go travelling to cities to go wandering round. Even at home I'm restless I hate being in one place too long, I end up walking about the house, running up two flights of stairs and back down again. I just never stop!
No wonder why I'm just edging on 9 stone in weight.

A little under 125 & 3/4lbs. Sounds very healthy to me, unless you are very tall or very very short! Mike

Stones are used for weight more than anything in this country. I dunno if it's the same in the US but 1 UK Stone is 14 UK lbs. I just prefer dealing with smaller numbers.
