Hi everynumismatist
I'm wanting to start a golden dollars low ball set. I already have a 2000 D, 2001 D, a 2007 P george Washington, and a 2010 D Abe Lincoln. All of them grade VF or below. How should I go about getting more?(especially the nifc ones) I have never completed a set other than the State Quarters.I'm going to visit my LCS today to get the folder. Any help would be appreciated. (I didn't know whether to post this in the modern US coins or in the modern us coin grading so I just posted it in the modern us coin grading.)

A lowball set for a series that doesn't really circulate? You like a challenge, don't you? I am not even sure how you managed to find some in VF The lowest I have seen is an EF and that was after I made it a pocket piece for a year. If you want a complete set of lowballs, you are probably going to have to go the pocket piece route as well.

I was afraid to hear that. But yes, I do like a challenge. But besides a pocket piece, is there any other way to complete this set?

Find somewhere where the circulate. For example, we use tons of them at my work in our vending machines. I see plenty of circulated coins. We have over 400 employees at my work, so we put out a lot of dollar coins through change machine.

Put them in a jar together and shake the jar every time you walk by it.

Stop the presses! Golden dollars DO circulate...in some locations.

Which reminds me that I need to stop by the Credit Union for some dollar coins.

Go to Las Vegas...I played in several billiards events there for a tourny. They use Golden Dollar coins for all their tables....they literally have probably hundreds of thousands of them very well circulated...

Not all dates of golden $'s will circulate. Not sure what the point would be to do a low ball set other than to make the TPG's richer. These best and worst sets thing was something they cooked up to get more slabbing done.

IndianGoldEagle: I don't plan on getting these slabbed. WAY to exspensive I just like the look of well circulated coins.

Thank you Jayman931 & GRR, but I think Vegas & Ecuador are a little too expensive for me at the moment.

Now that may be a problem....and if you do find em in circulation may be years if any you will find em all. Try ebay ...thats one route...just check carefully and get some ballpark figures..Then try some coin magazine and look for adds and compare with ebay. Then you you go the cheapest route. Remember you get what you pay for!
