Hi All,

I have recently come into the possession of some relatively low mint consecutive notes. I figured I'd put them up on ebay and turn a quick profit if possible.

Does anyone have experience mailing bills? I have a couple brand new 100 bill stacks and also some fancy or semi-fancy notes.

I figure USPS package but after that I'm not sure the best way to securely mail them. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I suggest tracking and signature confirmation, add insurance if you want

Hi Fuzzy, Thanks for the comment.

I am more concerned with securely shipping the bills. So they don't get folds or tears while they are traveling through the mail.

Thanks!

I'm not sure if your talking individually or in lots of 100. I personally put a note in a hard plastic protector, then in light cardboard, then in thicker cardboard, then in a manila envelope. Sounds like overkill to some, but I have received a few horribly packaged (and damaged) notes that made me swear I would never do that to someone else.

I don't have hard cases, and I too wouldn't want people to receive poor examples from me.

I have single notes and I also have lots of 100 consecutive notes. I thought about placing the singles in a bank envelope, place 1-2 layers of cardboard on either side and mail in a padded envelope. I just want to ensure it doesn't get damaged while shipping.

Ship it like how you'd hope someone would ship it to you.

Oh I want to add something to NOT do. Every time I receive a note in an envelope with those Styrofoam peanuts in it the note is damaged because as weight lays on it the peanuts are uneven and warps the note. I personally don't like padded envelopes either, my thinking is any surface that is uneven can do no good for the note. Flat surfaces are better IMHO.

So you would suggest a firm flat package. I just saw prices on hard currency holders. Wow.

when I have ordered currency online (single bills), its usually shipped inside a bill holder taped flat against a piece of cardboard and then inside a padded envelope.

We're looking into the mylar holders now. In bulk they don't appear that expensive.
