Hey guys! I really like this coin design and might be willing to buy it if it has a decent price. Thanks

Are you asking if that is a decent price? The australian lunar series usually has a bit of a premium, and since its a proof, that's more of a premium.

Melt for 1/2 ounce would be about a 800$, so your paying 95$ over melt. Unfortunately APMEX does not seem to have any 1/2 ounce proof Australian lunar coins.

But the non-proofs are going for $850-860, and then the premium for it being s proof would prob put it up in that price range.

Silver is silver, and gold is gold to me though. I try to pay as little over spot as I can.

Good luck finding that piece for less then 1000 on ebay, as again Lunar series command big premium....

Safe buy, esp long term IMO....

Remember, if it fills that void we all need filled and makes you happy an you can afford it, then why not I always say....

I would rather fork out a little more on a rare item an win it, then be the guy coming in 2nd later saying to ones self..."Man in hindsight, what would have 25 bucks more have been to get that rare item that Joe Smo ended up snaking on a snipe bid, lol....

The link I'm shown is not for the proof version. It says reverse proof which is what all of the regular Australian lunar series are. With that in mind, I think the price is about on par for what one would expect to pay. Not a home run and not a rip off. If you want one and it makes you happy go for it.

Tough call, cc1. If silver's spot price were stronger, it'd be easier to say "go for it!" The Australian lunar series is beautiful and would make a nice pickup. I just don't know if it's worth selling a chunk of silver right now at these depressed prices.

Great points last two via selling silver right now, and the reverse proof common point as I did not realize you would have to sell silver to get all money to acquire....

Well said not rip off by any means but not a home-run either....

Maybe a line drive double perhaps ;-/...

Silver is WAY better bargain right now and gold is TOO HIGH, so I would put that other four hundred or so into more silver and don't spread yourself too thin....

Having diversity is nice and there is long term money to be made on gold, as I figure they always will be....

But if you don't have enough of it to make a difference, stick with stacking silver a poor mans gold perhaps as even if you got a full oz. and gold shot up to 2500 by X-mas you still would not have made that much in the bigger picture of things....

I would only have to sell about 12oz. I have money too, but not that much. Thanks for info guys, I might pass and stick with silver. I would like to get some gold, but the premiums are way too high
