For small items I put them into 2X2's, then into a sandwich bag, then taped to a 3X5 card to hold them securely, then into an envelope.

For larger or more delicate items, I follow the same process but secure them to an appropriate sized card stock, then into a padded envelope.

giantbanana, most of the time I will send them off in a 4" x 6" Kraft bubble wrap envelope or if it's a small and inexpensive item, regular white letter envelope.

Plastic 2x2 without staples. I cut out envelope sized pieces of cardboard from cereal or pop boxes. I staple the edges of that to hold the coin in the middle Then it goes into an envelope.

This can go as regular mail and is far more preferred than a bubble envelope.

I also put a red wax seal with my initials on the back of it....
