Trying to get a good picture but the camera isn't working. It is brownish red, almost a copper looking coin. Found it when looking through my father in laws tubes of coins. A whole tube of 1945 p jeffersons and this one jumped out at me. Why would it be brownish red with no trace of nickel color?

It's probably environmental damage, but you should check the weight in case it might have been struck on a wrong planchet.

Yep, environmental damage. Still 35% silver so not all is lost.

Of course it could have been a Gold one that the Mint made just to fool people.
