Hello Everyone, I haven't posted much to the forum, but I've read quite a few from time to time. Thought I'd post a few of the series I love so much, Flying Eagle and Indian Head cents. http://www.noblecoins.org/ind1864158.htmlhttp://www.noblecoins.org/ind187311.htmlI haven't seen much posting on this series and was curious if it was due to lack of interest or lack of knowledge on the series.I know Scoutjim99 is a Fly-In member, but I see very little talk here on the series. If you like Die cracks, laminations and variety Fe's and IHC's are great to collect. Your input would be greatly appreciate. Thanks,

Thanks for the post. Nice coins. I don't think it's lack of knowledge per say with this group of collectors. I'm sure there are people that collect them, but there is so much variation in this hobby that it is hard for some to become experts on a particular series, and concentrate all of their monies to one thing. It probably took a year or two for Bryan, Superdave, and Becky just to become "experts" on one date of Morgans. I'm sure that someone here is an avid collector of this series, and there's probably more than one. Keep posting pics and maybe you'll spark some more interest!!! I don't think you'll get many objections to pictures of coins on this forum, especially with the close ups of variations and errors!

daveyn, Shallow pockets have kept me from completing a full set of the FE and IHC; however, I do have a near-complete set - still missing the '77, '08S, and '09S - doubt I'll be picking up any of them soon. I've found them to be, for the most part, inexpensive, even in the better grades, and readily available through internet auctions. Being fairly new to this hobby of our's, my interest is still bouncing around from one month to the next, but I do like the older copper coins, and will, some day have this set completed - finances permitting. Hello Ralph, I mainly collect the varieties, but as a result, I'll eventually finish a set. I get a kick out just looking through a group of coins for repunched dates and miss placed dates, the series is loaded with them.I know they can be costly, but it seems all coins are going up in price, especially the key dates.

In my case, roughly 25 hours a week for three years. Becky's expertise runs to far more than just one date, and Bryan's specialty date is orders of magnitude more complex than mine. That '64 is an amazing RPD, daveyn. I gotta see if I can find me one of those someday. Are there any particularly dramatic clashes among these issues?

Hello SuperDave, there are numerous clashes in the Flying Eagle series, the best known are in the 1857's. 1857 clash from a quarter reverse, clash from half dollar obverse, clash from obverse of a Double Eagle, 25cent and 50 cent clashed die. I have quite a few Indians with clash marks in front of the eyes and in the feathers, and on the reverse also. I'll post some pick later if you like.
Thanks for your post,
