I found this one today as well.A 1987d penny that has the biggest zit on its neck....i really have no idea what it is.I did actually break of a tiny peace and its metal.Thought clue at first.Looks like zink in color.Part of the area is also raised.

Looks like it was heated up and something applied to it.I can't be sure what. Maybe even glue?

I dont think its glue...i managed to break off a small piece and it looked like metal .It was the color of zink.I want to try to take it all way off but I'm afraid I will damage it.

Well its already damaged so I don't think you will loose anything. Since its an 87 might just be the old zinc rot anyway.

Looks like a large gas bubble or perhaps zinc rot.

lol...yup I'm still learning :)...
I was able to get that bumb off.It was a piece of metal.Underneat the coin looks just like a coin.Thanks a lot guys....I still have a lot of learning to do.:)
